Meet Lori Amarin, LVT’s Food Services Supervisor. Lori does everything from ordering food to coordinating donations from the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Porto’s to creating meals based on MyPlate.gov. Her goal is to make sure that the adolescents in our residential program receive the best nutrition possible during recovery. We’ve even learned that some residents now want to become nutritionists and cooks – job opportunities that kids can do! In the short time that Lori has been with Phoenix House California, she created a lunch program for staff by designing menus that are both adult and teenage-friendly. Money raised through the staff lunches goes directly back to our program to support snacks for our residential and outpatient programs, weekend options and well as more fun and healthy food options.
Lori received her B.S. in Food Science and Nutrition from CSU San Bernardino as well as credentials as a Certified Dietary Manager and also a Certified Food Protection Professional through the Association of Nutrition and Food Professionals (ANFP).
