Susan J. Wood, LMFT
Senior Director of Adolescent Services
Susan Wood joined Phoenix House California in August 2021. She has over twenty years of experience working with youth and young adults in Los Angeles County community mental health settings. She also has extensive experience working with Department of Mental Health programming, including quality assurance, full-service partnership, wraparound, school based, and early intervention services. She has been instrumental in opening clinics in communities in Los Angeles County to meet the increased needs for mental health services. Prior to joining Phoenix House, Ms. Wood served as Program Manager and then Senior Director at Children’s Bureau of Los Angeles overseeing the agency’s $24M health contract. She was also with the Child and Family Center as FSP Program Manager, Assistant Director and finally as the FSP Program Director.
Ms. Wood has been licensed since 2002 and is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She is trained in crisis management and working with severely mentally ill youth and young adults. Her many years of management experience have contributed to her success in creating strong teams of professionals. Ms. Wood is passionate about creating new programming to meet the growing needs of the community to help young people and families with mental health and substance abuse disorders. She holds a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.
