Join us for an unforgettable evening of laughter and inspiration in support of Phoenix Houses of California! Sober & Standing (Up!) is a comedy show fundraiser taking place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the historic El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.

Humor has the power to heal, uplift, and connect us all—especially when shared. Our lineup features stand-up comedians who are in recovery, transforming their most challenging moments into lighthearted, powerful performances. Their stories prove that laughter truly is a catalyst for healing, change, and lasting growth.

But this event is more than just a night of jokes—it’s a celebration of resilience and community. Inspired by the spirit of the Phoenix, we honor recovery, renewal, and the strength to rise again.

The Talent

Alonzo Bodden

Comedian, Actor, Host

Alonzo Bodden has been making audiences laugh for more than 20 years with comedy that’s smart, fearless, and insightful. He first broke through nationally as the Season 3 winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and has since become a familiar voice across TV, radio, and live stages nationwide. A longtime regular panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!, Alonzo brings the same quick wit and perspective to the stage. His stand-up special, Heavy Lightweight, mixes humor in everyday life with with a take on bigger social and cultural issues. His most recent TV appearance was on the CBS sitcom Ghosts. He’s also released the Showtime specials Historically Incorrect and Who’s Paying Attention, and continues to tour with a style that’s thoughtful, direct, and funny.

Frankie Quiñones

Comedian, Actor, Creator

Frankie Quiñones is a comedian, actor, and character creator best known for CHOLOFIT, the viral workout universe that introduced audiences to his fan-favorite “Creeper” persona. He stars as Luis in Hulu’s This Fool and earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series for his work on the show. Frankie’s TV work also includes recurring appearances on FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, along with voice roles in animated series including HBO Max’s Fired on Mars and Victor & Valentino. Whether he’s performing stand-up or disappearing into one of his characters, Frankie’s comedy is rooted in sharp observation, cultural specificity, and big-hearted storytelling.

Ally Weinhold

Comedian, Social Worker, Emcee

Ally Weinhold is a Los Angeles-based comedian, social worker, and recovering alcoholic who believes laughter can be a catalyst for healing and human connection. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting, Ally was nudged toward comedy instead and eventually began asking a bigger question: what if comedy could be used for good? She started bringing recovery-themed stand-up shows into treatment and sober living communities and went on to develop clinical comedy workshops and programming that blend humor with real emotional tools. Today, Ally draws on both her comedic voice and clinical background to help people find lightness, relief, and resilience in life’s most challenging moments—while keeping it honest, relatable, and genuinely funny.

The Venue

The El Rey Theater

An original art deco masterpiece built in 1936, the El Rey Theatre is a Historic-Cultural Monument in the heart of Los Angeles’ Miracle Mile. Designed by Clifford Balch, the El Rey boasts a stunning art deco lobby, sweeping staircases, a VIP balcony lounge, and a grand ballroom with a full stage.

Originally a first-run movie house for over 50 years, it became a live music venue in 1994 and has since hosted legendary performers like Bob Dylan, Billie Eilist, Coldplay, and Kendrick Lamar. 

The El Rey has also starred in iconic films and TV shows, including “La La Land,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” and the miniseries “The Offer.”Its rich history and architectural charm make it the perfect setting for an unforgettable night of laughter and recovery.
